Jacksonville College exists to provide
a quality education from a biblical

• Chartered by the state of Texas in
1899, Jacksonville College is owned
and operated by the Baptist Mis-
sionary Association of Texas and has
been affiliated with the Southern
Baptists of Texas Convention since
2004.
• Its mission is provide a quality educa-
tion from a biblical worldview that
challenges minds, transforms lives
and equips students for servant lead-
ership and lifelong learning.
• Enrollment this fall was 517, ac-
cording to school officials, with 49
percent of students with 49 percent
of JC students taking one or more
classes online. The school also has
participants who are part of a dual
credit program offered through area
high schools.
• The college – which also offers an on-
line learning program with expanded
course offerings – awarded its first
completely online degree in May to
Tameeka Mitchell of Jacksonville.
• In July, JC and UT Tyler announced
a partnership to offer seamless
pathways for students seeking to
continue their education by creat-
ing a streamlined transfer process
between the two schools.
• In 2017, the college signed an ar-
ticulation agreement with East Texas
Baptist University, designed to maxi-
mize resources available at the both
institutions to provide an accessible
avenue for students to earn both an
associate and bachelor’s degrees.

• The Department of Education’s Col-
lege Affordability and Transparency
Center ranks Jacksonville College as
the fourth most affordable private
nonprofit 2-year college in the na-
tion.

mission on Colleges, JC’s two-year
program offers associate degrees
and has a liberal arts curriculum of
academic transfer courses that satisfy
the core requirements of a typical
