There’s a
revolution
going on
You may be forgiven to think there’s a revolution
going on, the World is going electric, petrol
and diesel power plants will soon be replaced
by Electric. For the purists this scenario is
tantamount to blasphemy.
But the reality is staring us all in the face. Electric
is here to stay. In this edition of Accelerator we
are going to explore some of the latest concepts
and models that are revolutionising the way we
think about cars and their performance. It’s a brave
new world, so take a few minutes out and join us
for the ride.
Let’s be practical, the internal combustion engine
still powers the World’s economy. For most of
us the roar of a big petrol engine is always going
to thrill. There’s something primeval about the
sound and the depth of the vibration. The assault
to our senses is immense. It’s a love affair too!
The beauty and form of a beautiful motorcar
can never be rivalled. It’s an intoxicating mix, and
we are powerless to resist. And yet we are also
secretly intrigued and fascinated by the new
technology that electric brings to the table. The
more we explore the electric options, the more
eager we are to know more. The new battery
powered supercars for example are stretching
their legs with performance numbers that are
now mind-boggling.
If the supercars are changing our
perceptions, the diversity and variety
of electric cars are also opening
up a world of new possibilities.
Environmentally electric power ticks
all the right boxes. It’s a beautiful and
noble concept. We know it makes
sense too! But lets be realistic the
revolution is not going to happen
overnight.
There’s more research to be done
and better distribution before we
see electric, trains, boats and planes
as the norm. But it won’t be long
coming.
