Travis Fimmel reprises his role as Detective James Cormack as Black Snow returns to introduce audiences to a new mystery and a new location in stunning subtropical Queensland . As Cormack investigates a new cold case – the disappearance of Zoe Wardell – the drama unfolds in dual timelines .

Audiences follow Cormack as he investigates the case in the present day , while the victim , Zoe , will drive the storyline in the past . Eight months have passed since Series 2 and Bea Farkas has a new colleague at Dagbladet , Karim , whom she is both annoyed with and slightly attracted to . Together , Bea and Karim dig into the Scandinavian telecom company Vasacom , owned by Aksel Bonnesen , Bea ’ s antagonist from Series 2 .

Vasacom is building 5G networks in several Middle Eastern countries and is accused of paying bribes to Taliban warlords in the region . When a Swedish engineer is kidnapped , everything comes to a head . Should Vasacom pay a ransom to continue building the network and at the same time finance a terrorist group , or risk the engineer ’ s life ?
