The Honorable Judith K. Fitzgerald (Ret.) is the recipient of the Bankruptcy American Inns of Court Alliance Distinguished Service Award for 2020. The Distinguished Service Award recognizes the ongoing dedication to the highest standards of the legal profession, the rule of law, and the demonstration of personal ethics and integrity, and specifically dedicated to a judge or attorney who has practiced in the field of bankruptcy law.

Alexandra K. Garrett, Chair of the IWIRC Gulf Coast Network, became a named shareholder of Silver, Voit & Garrett, Attorneys at Law, P.C. in Mobile, Alabama.

Zulima González (Solorzano, Carvajal, Gonzalez y Pérez Correa , SC; Mexico City) Regional Director for Mexico in the IWIRC Latin American Network, was recognized as “Rising Star” in the Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice on the Legal 500 2021 edition. Zulima is the youngest Rising Star recognized by Legal 500 in Mexico in the Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice and one of the four women distinguished on such practice in Mexico. Read more here.

Katie Harrison (Campbell & Levine, LLC; Pittsburgh) gave an "ABI Talks" presentation on "Social Issues in Bankruptcy" at the ABI Mid-Atlantic Virtual Workshop on August 6, 2020. Katie discussed the intersection of social movements such as "Me Too," and Black Lives Matter and Bankruptcy Law, and also discussed the ways in which insolvency pratcitioners are asked tin practice to address fair housing, environmental apartheid, inequity in access to resources, and economic inequality.

Samantha Hawkins was promoted to Associate Director at RSM Restructuring Advisory LLP in London on October 1.

Emma Heath was promoted from

Director to Senior Director. She is

in the Turnaround and Restructuring

Strategy team at EY in Chicago.

Susan Poll Klaessy (Foley &

Lardner LLP; Chicago) was recently

admitted to the Supreme Court of

the United States.

Alexis Leventhal was appointed to a national 6-person task force for the American Inns of Court to develop a national program for attorney volunteers to help high school students understand their legal rights, responsibilities, and obligations upon turning 18.

Alexis Leventhal and Lauren Michaels participated on a panel held for local law students at Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh entitled “Career Paths in Bankruptcy,” discussing the various career paths in the insolvency and restructuring fields as well as the ways law students can get involved and explore this area of law now.

Soo Lynnie obtained a liquidator's

license approved by the

Minister of Finance in Malaysia.

As of October 26, she is the

youngest approved liquidator

in Malaysia.

Beverly Weiss Manne and Katie Harrison were featured on a panel discussing bankruptcy and restructuring in the oil and gas industry at the PBI Oil & Gas Law Conference on October 14, 2020.

Sabina Jacobs Margot, Co-Chair of the Southern California Network, was recognized in the inaugural edition of the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch 2021 in Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights and Insolvency and Reorganization Law.
