Valerie Bantner Peo, Buchalter Nemer
I believe passionately in IWIRC’s mission of enhancing the professional status of women in the insolvency and restructuring profession, in large part because I have received tremendous benefit from my involvement with IWIRC. Most notably, I landed both of my law firm positions through an IWIRC connection. I joined IWIRC while I was a law clerk, and a conversation with Kathryn Richter at the 2011 Northern California network annual holiday party led to an associate position with Schander Harrison Segal & Lewis. As a member of the planning committee for the 2014 Leadership Summit held here in San Francisco, I got to know Shawn Christianson and was delighted to join her practice group at Buchalter Nemer in 2014. It has been my honor to give back to IWIRC by holding leadership positions in our local network, which in turn has introduced me to the global IWIRC community. I look forward to the opportunities that I know those connections will bring!
Valerie Bantner Peo is an attorney with the San Francisco offices of Buchalter Nemer. She has represented financial institutions, software licensors, landlords, and trustees in state and federal court and on appeal, in all aspects of bankruptcy reorganization and liquidation, including contract assumption and rejection, plan confirmation, claim disputes, nondischargeability actions, fraudulent transfers, and preference liability. She was also a semi-finalist for the 2016 IWIRC Rising Star Award.
