ALTIPLANO ULTIMATE AUTOMATIC 910P
THE ALTIPLANO ULTIMATE AUTOMATIC 910P is making its muchawaited introduction, further celebrating the emblematic Altiplano. The watch— the thinnest automatic movement on the market, at just 4.30mm thick— is an integral part of the ultrathin watchmaking continuum that Piaget ramped up in 1957 with the debut of the 9P caliber. This was followed in the 1960s by the 12P, whose introduction was described by the Journal de Genève as“ an event destined to be a milestone in the history of watchmaking.”
The Altiplano Ultimate Automatic 910P, three years in development, is just 4.30mm thick, the timepiece fuses movement and case to form a single entity( like the 2014 Caliber 900P), serving as the mainplate to which the exceptionally thin components( some wheels a mere 0.12mm) are attached.
Making every millimeter count, the entire mechanism of the Ultimate 910P is contained within the depth of the balance wheel, and the suspended barrel, held by a single bridge on the dial side, is contrary to customary barrels that are also fixed on the mainplate side. The oscillating weight is in 22-karat gold with black PVD coating and is positioned on the movement periphery, contributing to the overall thinness. The hour and minute hands, offset at 10 o’ clock, are also integrated into the caliber rather than placed on top as in standard construction. This enhances reliability of the movement in the presence of any distortion of the glass due to strong pressure.
The 41mm watch is available in white or pink gold, and each comes on a black alligator leather strap. Prices: Piaget Altiplano Ultimate 910P in white gold is $ 27,000 and the rose gold model is $ 26,000
EXTREMELY LADY Recalling the indelible design cues from the 1960s, Piaget’ s new Extremely Lady sets a contemporary benchmark for style. Joining other jewelry watches in Piaget’ s ladies collection with its classic oval case and minimalist dial, this piece is crafted in 18-karat pink gold and white mother-of-pearl. Its sparkling gold bezel is alight with 24 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling about 1.46 carats, framing a dial devoid of any ornamentation other than the Piaget logo at 12 o’ clock and elemental gold hands that gently sweep across the gleaming pearl backdrop.
The spare design further draws attention to the essential loveliness of the watch and the exquisite metalwork for which Piaget is known. The integrated hand-engraved 18-karat bracelet is rendered here with a sensual“ fur” décor, and its suppleness— thanks to the multitude of hand-assembled links— offers ultimate comfort on the wrist. This elegant timepiece features Piaget’ s 56P quartz movement. Price: $ 50,500.
