ALMOST A DECADE AGO, PENNSYLVANIA-BASED WATCHMAKER RGM teamed with
Connecticut-based custom bicycle frame maker Richard Sachs to create a special GMT watch
influenced by both designers. Since then, the two makers of handcrafted mechanical objects
have continued to collaborate, and recently they announced their next GMT watch project.
Now available, the new Model 500-GMT-RS is the first RGM with a bi-directional-turning
GMT bezel. The watch is designed as a sport watch but is also ideal for travel (on a bicycle
made from a Richard Sachs frame perhaps?).
The wearer can use the 24-hour GMT hand and bezel to keep track of time in two time
zones. To enhance durability, RGM has equipped the watch with two case-back gaskets, a
2mm sapphire crystal and a high-quality screw-down crown. The bezel is deeply engraved
and its numbers are filled with ceramic.
Because the new watch is in part designed with input from bicycle frame builder Sachs,
the watch features the Richard Sachs logo incorporated into the 24-Hour GMT hand and the
case-back engraving. Inside is an RGM enhanced automatic ETA 2893-2.
Made as limited edition of fifty watches, the RGM Model 500 GMT-RS will arrive with a
few extras if pre-ordered now. These extras include: A three-year warranty in place of stan-
dard two-year warranty, an extra RGM watch strap, a Richard Sachs water bottle and a
signed Richard Sachs cycling cap.
