AT ITS 29TH ANNUAL WORLD PRESENTATION OF HAUTE HORLOGERIE this January Franck Muller noted that it has expanded its Genthod estate known as Watchland. The company has just added two new buildings, which total 16,000 square meters, to the multi-building Swiss village. Franck Muller now boasts 450 craftsmen and employees on the site. In addition to showing off its newest facilities, Franck Muller unveiled several of its 2019 collections, including the Vanguard Crazy Hours, Vanguard Lady Skeleton, Vanguard Racing and Vanguard Yachting Anchor Skeleton, not to mention a completely new collection called Remember. DON’T’ FORGET Franck Muller’s newest collection, called Remember, presents the hour figures in the opposite clockwise direction. Remember’s hour, minute and second hands will follow an unconventional rotation, making a circle in a counter-clockwise direction. The full collection is available in a 31mm by 43mm rose gold, white gold or stainless steel case with a dial set with diamonds or stamped guilloche with sunray pattern, finished with twenty layers of lacquer and the Franck Muller numerals. Also at WPHH, Franck Muller added several new collections aimed to attract women watch collectors. Most notably, there’s a new women’s Vanguard model in the complex Crazy Hours collection. The timepiece displays numerals in an unconventional order, with a typical Art Deco pop-art style. Driven by a patented mechanism, the central hours hand jumps from one hour to the next, consistently following the correct sequence of numerals even though they are randomly placed on the dial. Every sixty minutes, the hand jumps to the next correct numeral, while the minutes hand continues its traditional sweep around the dial. SPRING 2019 | INTERNATIONAL WATCH | 79
