NOMOS WINS GOOD DESIGN AWARD
Nomos Glashütte has been awarded a Good Design Award for product design
for its racetrack-inspired Autobahn, which debuted in 2018. The award is
presented to products for top form, function, aesthetics, and quality, and since
2011 Nomos has been awarded five of the awards from the Chicago-based
organization. The Nomos Autobahn is an automatic watch with an elongated
date window that shows a trio of dates at a glance. It also features a quick-
change date function; just a half turn of the crown in either direction moves the
display one day forward or back. The watch, designed by Nomos and Werner
Aisslinger and partner Tina Bunyaprasit, the creative team behind Studio
Aisslinger, is equipped with thin Nomos neomatik caliber DUW 6101.

“How to Distinguish the Genuine from the Fake” is a unique and comprehensive three-day seminar developed by instructor Adam Harris
as a guide to detecting counterfeited or reworked luxury timepieces. The course includes an overview of watch types and appropriate
terminology, establishing criteria for making judgments of authenticity based on comparative analysis. Participants will learn watch
examination techniques and methods and how to apply the best critical detection skills to discern the genuine from the fake. Participants
will have the opportunity for hands on-examination of the latest techniques that are being used in replica watches, including examples of
Ultra Super Fakes, so that they will be able to distinguish between the two. This is the only comprehensive training to offer this hands-on
component to participants.
This course will include the following watch brands/makers: Omega, Hublot, Rolex, Tudor, Breitling, Cartier, TAG Heuer, Panerai, Bell &
Ross, Montblanc, Girard-Perregaux and Audemars Piguet.
OMEGA REINTRODUCES CALIBER 321
Using the second generation Calibre 321 as a reference, Omega is re-introducing
the storied caliber for use in new Omega watches. Omega utilized a digital
scanning method to see inside the true Speedmaster ST 105.003 timepiece
that astronaut Eugene “Gene” Cernan wore on the moon during the Apollo 17
mission in 1972.
As a result, even the unique parts of the Calibre 321 have been reborn in
respect to their authentic specifications. The movement corresponds to the
“moon period” of Omega’s history, and the watchmaker vows to completely
respect the designs from the past when completing this new movement. The
new calibers are now in production at Omega’s headquarters in Bienne within
a dedicated Calibre 321 workshop. Omega adds that for each movement
one watchmaker will also assemble the watch head and bracelet on any new
watches with the remade caliber.
