AUDEMARS PIGUET ASSISTS ONE DROP
Audemars Piguet created a unique piece for the One Night for One
Drop Foundation gala in Las Vegas in early March. As one of six live
auction items, an all-platinum Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph with
purple dial and navy sub dials, with an estimated value of $112,000, was
scheduled to be auctioned on March 8 in support of the Foundation.
Proceeds from the sale directly assist One Drop’s safe water access
initiatives around the world and educational efforts throughout the Las
Vegas valley.
Audemars Piguet, a long-time supporter of the Foundation, has
also had a long history with Guy Laliberte, founder of the charity and
creator of Cirque Du Soleil. The watch features a deep purple Grande
Tapisserie patterned dial with blue counters and external zone. The
piece is offered with a platinum bracelet complemented with an
Audemars Piguet folding clasp as well as an additional blue alligator
strap. The case is water-resistant to 50 meters and its caseback is
engraved with “UNIQUE PIECE.”
“We are proud to participate in this charity auction for the second
year and help make a positive long-term impact worldwide,” notes
François-Henry Bennahmias, Audemars Piguet CEO.
ULYSSE NARDIN SAILS FOR CLEAN SEAS
Dan Lenard, co-founder of Italian yacht design firm Nuvolari-Lenard crossed the Atlantic in January and February to raise awareness of the need
to clean up the oceans. He sailed alone on his 33-foot-long sailboat, SCIA, without equipment such as an engine, electronics, GPS, log, compass or
autopilot, but wearing only a Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronometer Great White. Lenard aims to raise awareness for the plight of the seas. Ulysse Nardin
endorsed Dan Lenard’s mission, which he has called “Vela-Code,” and called for ‘a need to reset how we treat our environment by ‘taking responsibility
for what we have done and devoting resources to repair the damage.’
