SIHH 2018 1. GIRARD- PERREGAUX GIRARD-PERREGAUX FOCUSED ON ITS LAUREATO COLLEC- TION AT SIHH 2018 WITH A NICELY PROPORTIONED CHRONOGRAPH AND A ROUND OF WHITE AND BLACK CERAMIC CASES, WHILE ALSO EXPANDING ITS LINEUP OF COMPLICATED LAUREATO MODELS. WE’LL LOOK AT TWO OF THE LATTER DEBUTS, BUT FIRST LET’S EYE THE LAUREATO CHRONOGRAPH, CERTAINLY GIRARD-PERREGAUX’S FOCUS AT THE RETAIL SHOWCASE THIS YEAR. LAUREATO CHRONOGRAPH After introducing a broad selection of Laureato designs over the past two years (including several stunning skeletonized versions), Girard-Perregaux has finally added a chronograph to the mix, and results are worth the wait. Available with a 42mm or 38mm case, in steel or pink gold, the Laureato Chronograph maintains the spirit of the line with a polished octagonal bezel, Clous de Paris-decorated dial (silver-toned, black or deep blue) and integrated strap or bracelet. In addition to the clean chrono design, this Laureato Chronograph bene- fits from an especially durable case. Made of 904L steel, which features a higher than usual chromium content, the case (and bracelet) offer superior corrosion resistance and an extra level of gloss after polishing. This makes 96 | INTERNATIONAL WATCH | SPRING 2018 for a notably interesting, high-contrast satin-polish finish on all the watch’s metal surfaces. The exterior of the case now includes a crown guard, and the pushers nicely recall the bezel with their octagon-shaped detail. The 42mm version features a see-through caseback, while the 38mm watch’s caseback is closed, and both are fitted with G-P’s reliable self-winding chronograph Caliber 3300 to drive the counters, small seconds and date display. Every timepiece on a leather strap comes with an additional rubber strap. Prices start at $12,900 (steel on leather strap) and rise to $32,100 (rose gold on strap). NEO TOURBILLON WITH THREE BRIDGES SKELETON This first-ever skeleton version of the Neo Tourbillon with Three Bridges is built to maximize the view of its delightfully contemporary movement. Girard-Perreguax has smartly utilized convex crystals on the dial side and a fully open caseback to showcase its truly eye-catching open-worked automatic movement. The GP 9400-0011, features five titanium bridges, beveled, sand- blasted and blackened by PVD, and the watch’s Dauphine-style hands offer a dramatic contrast in brushed white gold. The tourbillon, too, is crafted from titanium and it spins on its axis once per minute. This 45mm timepiece is fitted with a hand-stitched black alligator strap with a titanium triple folding buckle. Price: $138,000
