THE LADY ARPELS PLANETARIUM POETIC COMPLICATIONS WATCH reduces the exclusive module
originally developed in 2014 in a larger size (in collaboration with Christiaan van der Klaauw). Now housed in
a 38mm white gold Lady Arpels case, the watch is set with diamonds on the bezel and sides of the case. The
aventurine dial displays the planets with a shooting star in rhodium-plated gold, showing the time. Van Cleef
imagines the Sun in pink gold, the shooting star in rhodium-plated gold, Mercury in pink mother-of-pearl,
Venus in green enamel, Earth in turquoise and the Moon as diamond. On the back of the watch, two aper-
tures display the day, month and year.
The Midnight Zodiac Lumineux Poetic Complications watches (not pictured), housed in 42mm white gold
cases, are developed exclusively for Van Cleef & Arpels and feature a module that incorporates a ceramic
blade whose vibration – under the effect of the wearer’s movements – enables electrical energy to be gener-
ated mechanically. This energy is then used to supply between four and six LEDs: at the press of a button,
they backlight the dial’s translucent enamel beads for about three seconds, illuminating the twelve signs of
the Zodiac.
These Midnight Heure d’Ici & Heure d’Ailleurs watches (right) may have been the sleeper hit men’s models
of SIHH 2018. They elegantly display jumping hour and retrograde minutes display. The Heure d’Ici – the
reference hour displayed in the window at the top of the dial – and the Heure d’Ailleurs, corresponding to
the second time zone indicated in the lower window, jump simultaneously thanks to a single sector that
synchronizes both hour disks with the minutes’ retrograde hand. When the latter reaches 60 minutes on the
graduated scale, it returns to its starting position to synchronize with the hour display. These 42mm pink
gold models are developed in partnership with Agenhor (Atelier Genevois d’Horlogerie).Finally, the extrava-
gant Extraordinary Dials collection adds two new unique pieces:The Lady Arpels Jour Féerique watch and
the Lady Arpels Nuit Féerique watch, plus a healthy selection of secret watches.
