Doing Good
BY MICHAEL THOMPSON
LOUIS MOINET AIDS WATER CHARITY
LOUIS MOINET CREATED A UNIQUE WATCH for a charity auction earlier this year that raised
funds to bring water to those in Africa and Asia lacking health treatment, crops, irrigation,
and sanitation. The Louis Moinet Tempograph Water features a sea-blue dial and a water-like
bezel, both references to the charity its sale benefits: 123 Action. The timepiece (right) was
sold to a private collector during the charity event for CHF 30,000, about $30,000.
The funds are earmarked for a highly practical undertaking: drilling six wells in Togo, thus
immediately providing drinking water for more than 10,000 people. The evening itself was
emceed by actor André Dussollier, who performed “Novocento” that evening prior to the
charity dinner and auction. The actor has also been a sponsor of 123 Action since its outset
and regularly wears a Louis Moinet Jules Verne III.
Louis Moinet CEO Jean-Marie Schaller and Grégory Prenleloup, who heads 123 Action,
are good friends. Louis Moinet has made financial contributions to the development of 123
Action since its founding just over a year ago. Since that time 123 Action has provided pure,
treated water on a long-term basis for some 130,000 families in three countries.
