Carre H
HERMÈS
IN ADDITION TO THE ARCEAU CHRONO TITANE , the very cool square
Carre H (above), the colorful Arceau Casaque and the Cape Cod models we
showed you previously, Hermès adds an interesting pocket watch and three
limited edition wristwatches that show off its unusual Millefiori dials.
The dial technique is inspired by nineteenth-century paperweights
crafted by the Cristallerie Saint-Louis. The black color is a secret mix of
minerals teamed with incandescent crystal. Once drawn from the mouth
of the pots in the furnace, the molten material is transformed into a crystal
rod by a glassmaker’s breath. From the rod, a white-hot thread is pulled out,
and then cut into sections. The resulting canes are then assembled to form
the pattern you see on the dials of the 43mm white gold wristwatch called
Arceau Lift Millefiori (right), a limited edition of three with mirror-polished
tourbillon carriage topped with the “Lift” motif, hand-chamfered and
polished bridges and black-polished screws. The dial technique can also be
seen on the 48mm white gold pocket watch—a one-of-a-kind creation.
In addition Hermès expands its always inventive painted white mother-
of-pearl dial collection with a Slim d’ Hermès Savana Dance, and two
Arceau Mythiques Phoenix Coloriages. These are 41mm gold watches made
with Hermès automatic movements in limited editions of twelve.
