Tonda 1950 Lune
With this latest customization of the Parmigiani
Fleurier Tonda 1950 Lune, we see how the luxury
watchmaker continues to broaden its appeal.
With this new slate-dial version, much more has
changed than simply the dial color and finish.
Parmigiani Fleurier has separated the
indicators on this new slate-dialed, rose-gold-
cased version of the Tonda 1950 Lune (pictured
here with two new diamond-set models),
moving the date display out of the small seconds
dial while also moving the lunar calendar to the
10 o’clock position from its previous location at
12 o’clock. The resulting asymmetric layout for
the Tonda 1950 Lune offers a choice to those
who prefer each function on this elegant moon-
phase model clearly separate from the others.
The new design also alters the dial text, which
focuses now on numerical rather than labeled
phase indicators for the northern and southern
hemisphere moonphase displays. Furthermore,
the Parmigiani-designed delta-shaped hands
have been skeletonized, which means the lunar
phases will always be fully visible regardless of
the location of either hand.
As is typical of the dress watches from
Parmigiani Fleurier, this Tonda 1950 Lune is
slim, thank primarily to its calibre PF708, a
fully in-house movement boasting a platinum
micro-rotor. Turn the watch over and you’ll
find beautiful, hand-applied finishes, beveled
bridges and Côtes de Genève decoration. Price:
