EDOUARD BOVET TOURBILLON
10-Day Triple Time Zone Flying
Tourbillon
Each year the horological house reborn in 2001 under
the direction of Pascal Raffy would seemingly outdo
itself with the release of another amazing timepiece.
Stunning combinations of sensual art, engineer-
ing savoir fair and unfettered lapidary luxury are
brought to life by the hands of masters with an eye on
perfection.
With this latest release, Bovet revisits the flying
tourbillon it first introduced three years ago in a
redesigned layout that integrates a patented double-
sided flying tourbillon. Bovet claims the tourbillon
improves its chronometry by minimizing friction and
lever-arm effects, all while the entire carriage appears
to be suspended in the air.
Powered by a single barrel, the Edouard Bovet
Tourbillon can run at the stately pace of 18,000vph for
more than ten days, and as impressive as it is to simply
run accurately for ten days on a single barrel, bear
in-mind that it must also accurately motivate a total of
seven hands and three rotating titanium hemispheres.
The local time is read from the center as usual, while
a small painted and lumed titanium hemisphere rotates
counter clockwise just above. Two additional domed
displays can be set to any of the earth’s twenty-four
standard time zones with a window above each show-
ing the name of a major city within the respective zone.
Each titanium hemisphere’s surface is engraved to
represent a world map with the ocean surface in relief
in order to contain the blue Super-LumiNova, which is
meticulously applied by hand.
The reverse side begs to be appreciated via a
powerful loupe as much as the front. It offers deep blue
flinque’ enamel and hand-chased engraving surround-
ing the local time display and power reserve.
Bovet will make a strictly limited series of this time-
piece and is currently taking orders now to place one
of only sixty Edouard Bovet Tourbillon movements
into the rose gold, white gold, or platinum convertible
Amadeo case of your choice. Price: $320,000
