the president of Tennessee State University , to extend the welcome to our guests , participants , parents , students , and sorors at our activity , " Rock Your College Essay Webinar ," which featured Taiia Smart Young , an award-winning author , writer , editor , content creator , and director of Content Smart Girl Media . Tennessee State University ( TSU ), Nashville , TN , was the featured HBCU for this program and the presentations by TSU officials captured and showcased the " true essence of the HBCU experience ." The following Tennessee State University officials highlighted the programs , opportunities , and the pride of the Tigers : Dr . Carjamin Scott , director of admissions ; Charles Gailbreath , president of the TSU Alumni Association ; Mark Grant , president of the Hampton Roads / Richmond , VA TSU Alumni Chapter ; and Jaedon Jones , TSU sophomore .

North Chesterfield , VA – Pi Rho Omega Chapter ' s Target 5 : Global Impact initiative donated holiday gifts to local refugees . Yearly , numerous refugee families resettle in the Richmond , VA area and experience employment uncertainties and lack of financial support . This year especially brought hardship to resettled refugees during the global pandemic and these unprecedented times . Lambda Omega host virtual programing with “ Rock your College Essay Workshop .”
# Excellence , decided to sponsor five children in need this year . The chapter collectively provided coats , clothing , books , games , gift cards and e-readers . In addition , chapter members also donated blankets and warm scarves for their parents . The chapter thanks the Commonwealth Catholic Charities for partnering and allowing the opportunity to serve the community and provide those in need . Target 5 : Global Impact is led by , Soror Trilizsa Trent , vice president , and program chairman , Soror Ebony Moore Turner and president , Soror Darlene Sims .
Delta Omega Hosts HBCU College Prep Workshop
Petersburg , VA – Delta Omega Chapter is offering a series of virtual college preparation workshops designed for high school juniors and seniors . The theme is " It ' s the # CAP for ME Because Education Matters !" The virtual workshop series aligns with the Signature # CAP SM program to assist students as they seek admission to college providing guidance and support in completing the application and enrollment process . The “ It ' s the # CAP for Me " cohort consists of 32 juniors and seniors . The workshop series meets every month from November 2020 through May 2021 . The workshop topics consist of : FASFA First - completing the FASFA ; Acing the App - completing college applications ; Take the Test — taking the SAT and ACT success ; Write Right ! - essay and resume writing ; Picking Perfect — selecting the right college ; Scholarship Search - looking for free money and applying ; Campus Life 101 - adjusting to campus life .

Portsmouth , VA – Five chapters partnered this summer to host a free virtual six-webinar series on Target 1 : HBCU for Life and # CAP SM for high school students and parents . The partnering chapters included : Gamma Delta Omega , Portsmouth , VA - Sorors Fannie Bullock and Liquita James ; Gamma Gamma Omega , Asheville , NC – Soror Kenesha Smith ; Lambda Omega , - Newport News , VA - Soror Karen Bazemore-Person ; Lambda Omega Omega , Monmouth & Ocean Counties , NJ - Soror Sandra Jordan and Psi Psi Omega , Stafford & Fauquier Counties , VA – Soror Christie Murray and Soror Casandra Chamblis . The webinar series were based on the books published by Psi Psi Omega member , SororChristie Murray entitled , College Planning Strategies I Wish Someone Had Told Me and College Funding Strategies I Wish Someone Had Told Me . They shared information on the college admissions process and the implications of COVID-19 . The webinar topics included : webinar 1 : general college admission strategies I wish someone had told me ; webinar 2 : strategies for taking the SAT and ACT ; webinar 3 : college funding and scholarship strategies to graduate debt-free ; webinar 4 : writing essays and getting letters of recommendation ; webinar 5 : applying to colleges - strategies for high school seniors and parents ; webinar 6 : general college and HBCU information I wish someone had told me . Hundreds of students and parents participated from each chapter ' s area and across the country including : Virginia , New Jersey , North Carolina , California , Texas , Maryland , Kentucky , Georgia , Alabama , Florida , and Illinois .
Gamma Delta Omega Celebrates 81 Years of Service and Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness
Portsmouth , VA – Gamma Delta Omega Chapter celebrated two important events ; Gamma Delta Omega ' s 81st birthday and the International Target Impact Day-Breast Cancer Awareness . The chapter hosted a virtual birthday party emphasizing Breast Cancer Awareness . Sorors and guests cooked the food for the party with the assistance of a renowned chef . Gamma Delta Omega was incredibly excited to have Mid-Atlantic Regional Director , Jennifer King Congleton , and Mid-Atlantic Representative to the International Nominating Committee , Soror Nadine Vargas Stewart , as our special guests . The chapter ' s birthday , the program target women ' s healthcare and wellness committee led by Soror Eboni Fleming , decided to host a virtual birthday party emphasizing breast cancer awareness . The event involved creating a nutritional meal , encouraging guests to wear pink tops , and a chef directing the attendees to develop gourmet meals .
