Soror A ’ ja Wilson is among the elite professional athletes playing in the WNBA , and she represents Alpha Kappa Alpha with power and pride . The pride is reciprocal , and Alpha Kappa Alpha congratulates Soror A ’ ja on her record-breaking accomplishments and well-earned accolades . The basketball phenom was initiated into Theta Gamma Chapter at the University of South Carolina . While there , the South Carolina native led the Gamecocks to their first Women ’ s Final Four in 2015 and first NCAA title in 2017 , three Southeastern Conference regular-season championships , and four tournament titles . Earlier this year , the University of South Carolina erected an 11-foot bronze statue on their campus to celebrate her contributions to their sports program .
The forward was drafted first overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft by the Las Vegas Aces where she would receive Rookie of the Year and All-Star honors in her first season . Two years later , she was named WNBA MVP .
Soror A ' ja has represented our country on a world stage throughout her extraordinary career , helping the USA Basketball Team clinch gold medals in the
2013 FIBA U19 World Cup , 2014 FIBA U18 Americas Cup , 2015 FIBA U19 World Cup , and
2018 FIBA World Cup . Most recently , Soror A ’ ja secured a gold medal at 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and helped solidify Team USA ’ s seventh consecutive
