Happy 100 th Anniversary Ivy Leaf ® Magazine ! As we celebrate 100 years of Ivy Leaf magazine , we now have more than 100,000 members in more than 1,037 chapters . Please note the NEW word count . This change will accommodate the increased number of submissions .

All articles must be submitted by your chapter ’ s Ivy Leaf ® reporter . Send all submissions to : Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Inc . ® , Attn : Ivy Leaf ® , 5656 S . Stony Island Ave ., Chicago , IL 60637 . We DO NOT currently accept e-mail submissions .
NEW Article Guidelines :
Please keep in mind the following general guidelines . First , make sure your submissions are newsworthy . We encourage stories describing significant accomplishments of sorors and chapters , we DO NOT publish general accounts of a chapter ’ s activities , initiations , retreats , a soror ’ s attainment of ordinary academic degrees , or retirements , etc . While we recognize the importance of these events , we do not have the space to acknowledge all of them . We thank you for understanding .
Please be mindful of the following word count limits and instructions . If articles are submitted exceeding the word maximums they may be returned for editing .

Photography Guidelines :
INCLUDE A CAPTION FOR EACH PHOTO , NOT TO EXCEED FIVE NAMES . When sending multiple stories and photographs for different sections , itemize the photo pricing and clearly indicate sections for which you are submitting articles .
Do not send photographs and monies separately . Doing so will delay or eliminate your article from being published . These rates apply to color and B & W .
Remember — good photographs make your chapter look good . Planning for action shots by studying newspapers and magazines will help to produce an outstanding picture . Hiring a photographer for your events is often a good idea .
• Please include a heading and photo caption , not to exceed five names .
• Each article should be typed double-spaced .
• Please submit only one article , per section , per issue . Otherwise , the editor will select one submission .
• Each article on a separate page with its own heading .
• There is a one photo limit per news article .
• DO NOT request the return of a photo . If you really need that copy of the photo — don ’ t send it .
• We cannot re-run an article if you forgot to submit a photograph .
• The content of each article should be timely and to-the-point .

We do not issue refund checks for unused photos . Chapters are credited and may use credit for future submissions . The sorority accepts only chapter checks , cashiers checks or money orders made payable to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Inc . ® at this time .
