IVSA Ad-Hoc Committee on Collaboration with Global Health Organisations

As the title suggests, this committee wants to improve IVSA’s relationship with Global Health Organisations such as the OIE, FAO, WHO and other UN initiatives so that we can bring our members more opportunities. Our aims include:

● Organising IVSA’s previous collaborations and contacts

● Detailing the specific procedures we must follow to become officially in relations and then following them through

● Making a calendar of events to advertise to IVSA members and officials

● Planning joint collaborative projects that IVSA standing committees and these organisations could undertake.

So far we have been working hard to try to gain official relations with the WHO and the FAO - and we hope to have this achieved by the end of our term! We also sent two representatives to the WHO Executive Board Meeting where Rosie was lucky enough to produce two joint statements with IFMSA on tuberculosis and public health preparedness and even present one (potentially as the first vet student to do this!). In addition to this we have been getting up to speed with the UN events so that next year we can ensure we utilise our special consultative status more. Looking forward, we have an exciting plan for World Vet Day on 28th April and will be sending some representatives to the World Health Assembly in May - so watch this space!
