OIE Junior Ambassador Project
OIE/IVSA Concept note
Concept
In the framework of the agreement between the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the
International Veterinary Student Association (IVSA) signed on 27 May 2014, OIE Junior Ambassadors
will be nominated by the IVSA in order to act as intermediaries between the OIE and veterinary
students across the world through the IVSA.
Nomination process of OIE Junior Ambassadors
Pre-requisite: OIE Junior Ambassadors must be veterinary students over 18 years old.
In order to facilitate the nomination process and its follow up, as well as the upgrade of the contact
list, all the IVSA Presidents of local sections (at university or national level, where it applies) are
automatically granted the ‘OIE Junior Ambassador’ title.
Consequently, at the end of each local IVSA President’s term, the OIE Junior Ambassador title is
automatically transferred to the new elected President. This will allow to discharge IVSA and OIE from
the task of selecting/electing the Junior Ambassadors for each local IVSA Chapter since this will be
managed at local level.
The IVSA President (or another person designated by him) will coordinate the communication between
the OIE and OIE Junior Ambassadors: he will be in charge of collecting information from the OIE and
disseminating it to the Junior Ambassadors.
Ability to delegate the implementation of the OIE Junior Ambassador’s role
Official OIE Junior Ambassadors have the possibility to delegate the implementation of this role to their
exchange officers or to another active member of their IVSA Chapter. However, they will still be
considered the official contact point by the OIE, through the IVSA.
OIE Junior Ambassadors database
Since local IVSA Presidents terms usually start either in September or in January, according to the
country, the IVSA would share at least twice a year (September and January), an updated contact list
of OIE Junior Ambassadors including the following information for each Junior Ambassador (Name,
Surname, Gender, University, year of studies, Country, Region, Email, Twitter account if relevant).
