For one thing, we will get to enjoy our 20 th Annual Conference in August, here in my home-town of Melbourne, and I look forward to welcoming you to what is already shaping up to be a wonderful event. And a milestone in the history of itSMFA. The state seminar program is about to kick off, with our friends in Western Australia firing up for Feb 24 th , the first of this cycle nationally. Looking back over the last 12 months I am reminded of the tremendous work the various state and territory committees do to ensure the seminars remain relevant and useful – as well as entertaining and a pleasant social experience. For my part I have made a commitment to ensure that the National Office continues to work closely with your committees to bring quality speakers to the events, in pleasant venues and with all of the necessary ‘behind the scenes’ support these seminars require. They are, after all, the primary focus of the Australian Forum and they demand adequate resourcing. I’m pleased to report that the support at the state and territory level remains impressively strong and indeed a number of local committees have demonstrated a heightened level of engagement in recent times. CEO & Editor Alan Hollensen Thanks, and well done. alan.hollensen@itsmf.org.au One aspect of our work this year that is well worth remarking on is our renewed focus on the National Awards. Your Board of Directors recently approved a significant revamp of the Awards criteria, a task largely managed by Brian Jennings in the expectation that this will drive increased levels of participation. The Awards represent a golden opportunity for an enterprise to demonstrate on a larger stage how they have gone about implementing significant change and the lessons we may all draw from this experience. I’ll be reaching out directly to previous Award entrants to encourage them to take part. I would love this important aspect of our endeavours to flourish. They really do represent the best we have to offer. Please let me know if you are thinking of entering and if there is any way I can assist – I’d be delighted to hear from you.
