Chair’s Report
CHAIRS REPORT
A Word from the Chairman
Dear Members
Our new Conference Committee has been confirmed in their
roles and I can confirm that once again Aprill Allen, aka ‘The
Knowledge Bird’ will be heading it up. We have streamlined
the composition of the group and reduced the number of
people who actually sit on the committee. This streamlining
will produce a more responsive and targeted oversight of the
conference preparations.
Our host city has been decided – we’re off the Canberra, and
next thing will be to settle on a venue and we’re looking at
several which are suitable to our particular needs.
One thing I should mention is that for the last three years we
have engaged Slattery IT as the conference organiser and
they have provided tremendous assistance in shaping how
the event was staged. For next year though, we will be
changing to another organising company and I’ll let you know

their details a little later. I would like to extend my thanks
to Rachel, Adina and the team at Slattery’s for the integral
role they played in our complete overhaul of how the
National Conference is staged. It’s reputation as one of the
world’s ‘Big Four’ service management conferences is quite
secure.
We are now well into the final quarter of 2017 and
everyone is gearing up for their seminar program’s final
presentations for the year. I recall Peter Marshal, ex
Queensland State Chair, remarking (more than once!) that
our seminars are the most important thing we do – and I
agree. This is our chance to interact in a very meaningful
way with our community and it is this sense of community
that marks us, the Australian Chapter of itSMF, as the most
engaged in the world.
