success, found his role slowly changing to one with a bigger admin focus and his thoughts turned to what would life look like, after work?
Parallel to all of this and on one of Peter’s trips to the Latrobe Valley when he was with the SEC, he was introduced to pistol shooting by a local. Enjoying the sport, Peter took up target shooting and shot for both fun and in competition until he discovered ‘Practical Shooting’, a stream of the sport where the shooter draws from a holstered gun and fires at targets in (fabricated) urban settings.
He was hooked.
Peter competes under International Practical Shooting Confederation rules and was recently made a ‘Life Member’ of the Oakleigh Pistol Club.
Life membership of any organisation typically denotes decades of service to that organisation in a manner that is selfless and which views that service as its own reward.
Which seems an entirely appropriate way to summarize Peter’s efforts in the Service Management domain too, given his roles as mentor, as public speaker and as evangelist.
Recently retired, Peter is fielding inquiries for his assistance, but more generally just spending some quiet time letting all that earlier bustle slip by him. It is hard to imagine he’ll be out of the action for long - Peter loves an audience, and an audience loves him.
And to that end, make sure you attend the upcoming Australian Service Management National Conference in Brisbane where Peter is presenting as a Keynote Speaker.
