Engage on International Women’s day
International Women’s Day is Friday March 8th and many events are being held worldwide to mark the day.
itSMF Australia is proud to be leading the way in gender diversity with 40% women in Board positions and above parity across our nation-wide Branch Committees. We are certainly not complacent, however.
From grassroots activism to worldwide action, we are entering an exciting period of history where the world expects balance. We notice its absence and celebrate its presence.
Diversity is good for both community and business. It’s not just about doing the right thing by giving presence and voice to 50% of the population. There has been much research showing increased diversity leads to greater creativity, innovation, richer brainstorming of differing ideas and better decision making.
This year itSMF Australia is proud to be partnering with the ISACA Sydney chapter in a special event as part of their global SheLeadsTech program. SheLeadsTech seeks to increase the representation of women in technology leadership roles and the tech workforce.
This year’s theme is “Better the Balance, Better the World” and encompasses a day of insightful keynotes, real life stories and invaluable networking. I’m very pleased to have been invited onto the program to share some women’s experiences and challenging journeys.
Diversity is not a female issue, it is a people issue and #BalanceForBetter is not a female-only event. It’s strongly encouraged for both men and women to participate and contribute to the learnings and success of the day. Together we can all make a difference in encouraging women and girls to career paths in technology plus leadership roles.
#BalanceForBetter event in Sydney on March 8.
