RULE #21
RAISE YOUR STANDARDS
PARTY WITH PURPOSE
What type of parties do you go to? When I was young I had a pretty low standard for the types of environments I would put myself in. The more I escaped
dangerous situations, the more I realized I had to raise my standard.
If you know an atmosphere is going to be loose with no responsible adults
there, you should not be at that party. My friends and I started to not
go to house parties that had people listening to angry music, drinking
alcohol and doing drugs. Those parties seemed to only attract people
looking to get into trouble. Certain parties carry certain atmospheres
that produce danger and sometimes death to people.
What type of sportsmanship do you have? You might be a student athlete
and compete consistently with opponents who you may even dislike. Be the
athlete who has excellent sportsmanship throughout and after the game.
A quote to consider:
“One person practicing sportsmanship is better than a hundred teaching it.”
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
• How do you carry yourself in the classroom?
• Are you the class clown who always gets the laughs
from your classmates but gets in trouble from your
teachers?
• Are you the follower who just does whatever the majority is doing? (i.e. if they are noisy and disrespectful, so
are you, if they are acting tired so are you etc)
