RULE #13 Don't be easily offended R eplace the idea that everyone is out to get you. You are not a victim in life. Choose to not be a victim. Life is too short to hold grudges. People who are easily offended are hard to connect with as human beings. An easily offended person is often hidden behind the walls of their offenses. Have you ever met a person who had a laundry list of all the people in their life who did them wrong? Parents, teachers, relatives, friends? Offended people are trapped in a prison of bitterness and grudge holding. Each one of an offended person’s issues are like the prison bars that they look out of everyday to see the world. Being offended takes an emotional toll on you. Have you ever been mad at someone for so long that you forgot what you were really mad about? I used to get so mad I would get headaches. It is silly to hold a grudge that long. I have seen relationships destroyed over foolish, little things. Children are excellent examples of how we can avoid being easily offended. You can watch children play with each other, do bad things to each other and get angry. Then just a few minutes later they are back playing and acting like it never happened. 35
