FILTRATION SYSTEMS AND GEAR PUMPS

Alfatech has innovated in the recycling sector with patented automatic filters and collaborates with leading companies to develop solutions geared towards the circular economy.
Alfatech was founded in 1989 by Luigi Macchi( 1941 – 2008), a respected expert and researcher in the field of geometric gear design. For over 35 years, the company has specialised in the plastics and elastomers industry.
GEAR PUMPS FOR SENSITIVE MATERIALS In its early years, Alfatech focused on developing gear pumps for highly sensitive materials such as polycarbonate, achieving considerable success by supplying equipment to major manufacturers of profiles and sheets. In addition to gear pumps, Alfatech has designed single‐screw and two‐screw reduction gears for polycarbonate extrusion.

GEAR PUMP FOR RUBBER Subsequently, at the request of Pirelli, Alfatech focused on the development of a gear pump for rubber, intended for use in their research laboratory. Following the successful completion of the experimental phase, which included the selection and testing of suitable steels, Alfatech proceeded with production and installation across various industrial facilities. These ranged from small-profile extrusion lines to mixing halls, with flow capacities of up to 15 – 20 tonnes, which have been installed all around the world.
GEAR PUMPS FOR THE RECYCLING SECTOR In light of market trends, the company made the strategic decision to invest in the recycling sector, developing gear pumps using special steels, carefully selected according to the specific polymers being processed. Following numerous installations

at major recycling facilities, Alfatech recognised the need for a fully automatic filtration system capable of delivering 100 % reliable, consistent filtration.
AUTOMATIC FILTER CHANGER In 2012, Alfatech designed its first Automatic Filter Changer, the ACF 125, capable of processing 1,250 kg / h of HDPE grade 100, which remains in service today. The same customer later purchased three additional units: one with a capacity of 1,500 / 2,000 kg / h and two with capacities of 3,000 / 4,000 kg / h. In 2013, an industrial patent application was filed, with the patent subsequently granted in Italy in 2015, Europe in 2018, and the United States in 2019. In the meantime, Alfatech continued to develop a range of filter sizes – from the initial 1,500 kg / h
models up to the latest system, installed at one of Italy’ s largest recycling companies, with a capacity of 5,000 / 7,000 kg / h.
POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM CUSTOMERS Ongoing development and improvements to these products have been driven by feedback from users, resulting in a reliable, high-quality solution on the market. In this sector, Alfatech, with its automatic filtration system and gear pumps, is steadily establishing a prominent position, collaborating on experimental projects with leading companies in both mechanical and chemical recycling.
NEW MARKET CHALLENGES AND FACILITIES EXPANTION Today, Alfatech is positioning
itself to meet new market challenges by expanding its operational facilities to include 1,600 sq m of production facility space and 600 sq m of offices, alongside the installation of 150 kW of solar panels – giving the company a distinctly green footprint, which is particularly important in the current global context. As a result, Alfatech is continuing to develop systems primarily focused on the circular economy, which remains the only viable path to achieving results and products that are increasingly aligned with the protection of our planet.
ALFATECH AT K 2025 Alfatech will be exhibiting at K 2025, from 8 to 15 October 2025, at Hall 16, Stand E68, where staff will be available to share insights on the latest challenges in this ever-evolving market.
