The initial network gradually started to differentiate on the supply side, also thanks to the establishment of numerous family businesses that have then evolved into more organised enterprises. Today the district includes around 600 production units. The Mediobanca study analysed in detail a sample of 75 capital companies operating in the area, which in 2023 generated a total turnover of 2.4 billion euros with around 11,700 employees.
