such as the current one . The fact that we have always avoided to focus on a single segment is proving to be a great advantage .” The numerous projects in progress range from extruders to water ring pelletisers , used by an increasing number of compounders that associate the PRT brand with operational excellence , for which special heads have been developed : „ We recently delivered a plant to a customer , a pipe manufacturer , who wanted to use a very specific recipe to obtain a new pellet type starting from his process scrap . Our experience in extrusion and feeding systems has allowed us to design a complete line , including a single-screw extruder , capable of processing materials with very different specific
weights , thus managing to mix the scrap pipes , the films from virgin pellet bags , calcium carbonate and other additives . The customer has been obviously very satisfied because , thanks to our plant , today he is able to recover all process scrap with a view to a perfectly circular economy .“
NEW APPLICATIONS However , PRT ‘ s technological „ endeavours “ are not limited to the ones previously mentioned . Starting from the world of washing with the creation of a first pilot plant for the recovery of polypropylene from votive candle cups heavily contaminated with paraffin , which is meeting with great success . In fact , until now these items have never been recycled due to the high rate of contamination ,
which excluded them from the normal recycling flows from separate collection in order to avoid contact with other plastics : therefore , it is a new market segment that requires specific processing equipment . A further innovation is the mini laboratory systems for washing and extrusion applications , commissioned by various institutes and multinationals . PRT ’ s customer-oriented approach , as mentioned , also involves the search for very particular and specific projects , concludes Bagnolati : „ In the electric battery recycling sector , we have made significant progress in the management of waste after the separation of polypropylene , a good business with a view to the future , because in the past we only cared about the recovery of PP , thus avoiding other plastic materials . In this way , it is possible to reduce disposal costs significantly , recycling what was previously considered useless waste , and pursuing the goal of an all-round circular economy .“
