The growth recorded by Gruppo Sirmax , now present in four continents , can be seen as an effect of its determination to conquer the world by focusing increasingly on the circular economy . On the production side , the company specialises mainly in engineering compounds , and its acquisition of the Emilian company SER and the recent establishment of an American subsidiary , SER North America , help it to meet the many requests for circular solutions that come in from customers all over the world .

With almost six decades of history behind it , Sirmax Group , headquartered in Cittadella ( Padua , Italy ) has grown over the years into what it is today : a multinational in the plastics sector with 13 plants in 4 continents , the first European and the world ’ s fourth largest independent compounder of polyolefin-based engineering thermoplastics for automotive , household appliances , electronics and numerous other sectors . The 2019 takeover of the company SER - Società Europea di Rigenerazione was a key development in the group ’ s global growth strategy . Founded in 1989 , SER specialises in the recycling of modified plastic materials originating from post-consumer household separate waste collection . This takeover , which can be seen as a move in the direction of the circular economy , fits in with the philosophy of sustainability that has always been pursued by the Sirmax Group , formed in 1999 following the merger of Maxplast , a manufacturer of polypropylene compounds , with Sirte , a producer , since 1964 , of polyolefin and styrene compounds . Since then , the expansion has been constant , including a series of branch and production plant openings and acquisitions . At the Salsomaggiore Terme ( PR ) plant , Massimo Veronelli , Global Sales Director Green Economy of SER , illustrated the strategies - and the integration process in Sirmax - of what has in practice become the “ ecological arm ” of the Group : “ Our industrial model is projected towards constant growth following the numerous projects started in cooperation with our main customers and oriented to full awareness of environmental issues . In SER we therefore deal with the total management of plastic waste as a source of sustainable raw materials to meet the needs of our reference markets , being able to rely on our excellent know-how supported by significant investments in innovation , starting from R & D , and also including technological process developments .
