San Vittore Olona , in the outskirts of Milan , has been home , since 1950 , to the headquarters of Union Officine Meccaniche SpA , a company specialising in the design and production , totally in-house in a 10,000 sq . m . plant , of single-screw and corotating twin-screw extruders , and complete systems and accessories for the processing of plastic materials . The target sector is the extrusion of rigid and flexible sheets and profiles , hollow sheets with two or more walls , special systems for composite plastic-metal panels , and complete lines for corrugated sheets in PMMA , PC , and PET , including complex lines . Today there is also a strong interest in post-consumer recycling and expandable micro pellet lines . It is the sheet applications that , above all , have allowed Union to make a real name for itself , recording growing sales from America to China . It has an office in Nanjing in addition to its vast network of agents around the world , who help the company provide a global customer service . Customers are seen as genuine partners with whom to collaborate from the initial design stages , given that the company works exclusively to order , without keeping warehouses . In recent decades , it has also been supplying more and more advanced systems for the production of expanded XPE , XPS , XPP ed XPET sheets and boards . Over 70 years of activity with excellent market feedback have also allowed the company to broaden the horizons of what is now the Union Group , in particular after the acquisition , in 2019 , of Costruzioni Meccaniche Tecom , based in Olgiate Olona , since 1963 a specialist manufacturer of bubble extrusion lines for polyolefin films and compostable biopolymers from 1 to 3 layers for the production of freezer , shopper and garbage bags , agricultural films , shrink films for packaging and stretch hood films for pallets .
