The material is part of the Mepol Eco-compounds ® range , containing at least 30 % recycled plastics . The Eco version of the polymer allows customers to use a more ecological material without affecting its top technical and aesthetic performance . Mepol also guarantees total traceability of the recycled component from waste to the thermoplastic compound , thanks also to the authorisations for the recovery of plastics at the company ’ s sites . In addition , the environmental performance of materials is documented on the basis of comparative data between virgin resins and their recycled counterparts .
REDUCING THE CARBON FOOTPRINT Mepol demonstrates its commitment to contrasting climate change and to protecting the environment by reducing the carbon footprint of its products and services . This goal is supported by a strong sustainabilityoriented policy that is expressed in numerous activities . One of the most important involves the Riese Pio X site , powered exclusively with energy from renewable sources , in a process of continuous monitoring and improvement for the further reduction of CO 2 emissions . Through its project “ The green corridor ”, Mepol has planted an area of about 8 thousand square meters with CO 2 absorbing shrubs , aimed to offset emissions for over 800 thousand tons in the first year , and reach carbon neutrality by 2025 . In 2021 , Mepol won the Sustainability Award , ranking among the top 100 Italian companies for the goals it achieved in terms of sustainability . The company ’ s efforts within trade associations and organizations are also significant . Mepol is in fact a member of Plastics Recyclers Europe , the major European association of plastics recyclers , as well as of Circular Plastics Alliance , an initiative within the European strategy for plastics , and Carpi , a consortium that aims to create a network of companies operating in the plastic waste recycling sector .
