The fruitful partnership between Mepol and Fila has led to the development of a bespoke compound , meeting the toy safety standards , which is now employed at the Fila site in Rufina ( near Florence ) for the production of Giotto containers , schoolpacks and jars , a brand dedicated to children aged 3 to 12 years that has been synonymous of colour and creativity for generations . “ For this project , Fila ’ s R & D goal was to identify a material that would incorporate the concept of circularity and at the same time comply with Directive 2009 / 48 / EC on the safety of toys from the point of view of chemical and physical features . After testing different materials from a technical and production point of view , the long-standing partnership with Mepol led to the identification of a “ 50 % regenerated ” polypropylene , i . e . 50 % coming from reprocessing of plastic waste , secondary raw materials and by-products . A solution perfectly suited to the company ’ s needs . In order to ensure compliance
