An extruder in operation
In the plastics sector, fire safety is not an option but a fundamental requirement, often imposed by stringent international regulations. Vamp, a company with over fifty years of history and a track record of customer satisfaction, has established itself as a benchmark in the production of flame-retardant masterbatches and colourants, backed by in-depth knowledge of polymer processing and plastic formulations.
A CATALOGUE BUILT ON CHEMISTRY The flagship of Vamp’ s range is the

Masterflam ® line, a family of products developed to meet the diverse needs of the compounding market. The company offers solutions for both Polyamide( PA) and Polypropylene( PP), with formulations that are completely halogen-free or low in halogen content, depending on the regulatory requirement to be met. The halogen-free products in the range are designed to achieve UL94 V0 and Glow Wire IT 850 ° C certifications, among the most widely used reference standards in the electrical and electronics sector. The chemistry |
employed includes nitrogen- and phosphorus-based additives, such as polyphosphates, phosphonates, melamine cyanurate and synergists, selected and tailored to the specific end application. The main products in the range:- Masterflam ® CP Flam N— Halogen-free additive for PP homopolymer and copolymer, UL94 V0 certified.
- Masterflam ® CP Flam 21— Halogen-free additive for unfilled PA6, UL94 V0 certified.
- Masterflam ® CP Flam 12— Halogen-free additive for PA and PA66 with glass fibre, UL94 V0 certified.

COMPLIANCE WITH EN 50642 For applications where the standard does not require the total elimination of halogens, Vamp offers a range of low-halogen flame retardants, specifically designed to comply with the limits set by the EN 50642 standard. This regulation establishes precise thresholds: bromine content below 0.15 % and total halogen content below 0.40 % in the finished product. This is where Masterflam ® PE 5280 BM comes in, an LDPE-based masterbatch that combines halogenated, non-halogenated and synergistic additives |
to ensure high flame-retardant performance even at low dosages( around 2 %). The product is available in numerous RAL colours, including orange, grey, black, blue, green and purple. Corrugated polypropylene pipes formulated with Masterflam ® can meet the UL94 V-2 standard.
MORE THAN JUST FLAME RETARDANTS Vamp’ s versatility extends far beyond the field of flame safety. Over time, the company has developed a portfolio of over 25,000 custom colours, formulated to its customers’ specific RAL or Pantone specifications. To complete its offering, Vamp also manufactures and markets process aid masterbatches for film and blow moulding applications.
TAILOR MADE FORMULATIONS The key strength that sets Vamp apart in the market is its ability to develop tailor made formulations: every request is taken on board and translated into a technical solution that precisely meets the required standards, whether these are international certifications, industry specifications or specific colour requirements.
