In the current context of plastic recycling, characterized by increasingly heterogeneous raw materials and a growing demand for high-quality end products, the pelletizing phase represents one of the most critical steps in the entire process. It is precisely in this area that Tecnova’ s innovation comes into play: a horizontal air-regulated cutting system designed for pelletizing complex plastic materials such as post-consumer waste. The development of this new cutting unit stems from a clear need: to provide operators with a water ring pelletizing system capable of ensuring high performance even at high output rates, up to and beyond 2,500 kg / h. In a market where efficiency and operational continuity are key factors, it becomes essential to rely on technologies that minimize process variables and reduce human intervention. The real advancement lies in the air-regulated system, which allows automatic and continuous control of cutting pressure. Unlike traditional units, where adjustment is handled manually by the operator, this system uses compressed air to:
• maintain constant blade pressure on the die,
• stabilize the process throughout all processing phases,
• eliminate errors related to manual calibration.
The result is a more controlled, reliable and repeatable process.
QUALITY OF THE FINAL PRODUCT One of the main advantages of the air-regulated system concerns the quality of the final product. The resulting pellets exhibit a more uniform shape, reduced defects such as tails or deformations and higher bulk density. At the same time, there
is a significant stabilization of the production process, even when handling challenging materials such as post-consumer plastic waste: one of the most complex applications for recycling plants, as it is characterized by high heterogeneity, possible contamination and unstable behavior during the melting phase. In this scenario, beyond improved operational efficiency, Tecnova’ s technology also introduces tangible operational and economic benefits, such as reduced blade wear, lower maintenance requirements, decreased machine downtime and greater ease of use for operators. Another key aspect is energy optimization: by operating at the minimum required pressure, motor load is reduced, leading to lower energy consumption. From a design standpoint, the unit features a compact footprint, making it ideal for space optimization.
A VERSATILE SOLUTION The WRT is designed to integrate both with new lines and existing plants, offering a versatile solution for different production configurations. This flexibility, combined with ease of operation, allows operators to improve overall plant performance without complex structural modifications. The introduction of an automated
and intelligent cutting system results in increased productivity and reduced operating costs. In an increasingly competitive sector, where pellet quality and production continuity make the difference, technologies like this represent a strategic asset to strengthen operators’ market position.
AUTOMATION AND PROCESS CONTROL The evolution of pelletizing systems now relies on automation, process control and the ability to manage complex materials. With its air-regulated technology, Tecnova introduces an innovative approach that goes beyond simple cutting, transforming it into an intelligent and optimized phase of the recycling process. toward a more efficient, sustainable and quality-oriented plastics industry. Looking ahead, Tecnova is focusing its development on a new generation of extruders designed to combine maximum productivity with energy efficiency. The goal is to create increasingly high-performance and flexible solutions capable of adapting to the growing variety of plastic materials to be recycled, materials that are continuously evolving in composition, characteristics and applications. A strategic direction that confirms the company’ s commitment to technologies capable of meeting the future needs of the recycling market.
