MORE THAN SEVENTY YEARS OF HISTORY Founded in 1950 , the company based in San Vittore Olona ( near Milan ) is a recognised leader in the application of innovative techniques and the continuous search for high quality standards , placing itself on today ’ s market as a solid cutting-edge manufacturer able to listen to individual needs and transform them into solutions that meet all customer expectations . The company ensures maximum support in all phases of the order , from consulting to design , up to the construction , installation and testing of the systems . “ Right now , we are working flat out , and have actually already reached our sales target for 2022 and part of the 2023 one , too , with delivery times of around 14 / 16 months . But the problem is not getting work ; rather , it is the shortage of qualified personnel and the difficulties with raw material supplies , which have plunged the entire manufacturing sector into a real crisis ,” says Ferdinando Passoni , president and CEO of Union . “ In fact , we often find ourselves in the situation where we have built and assembled the entire line mechanically and are simply waiting for delivery of the electronic

components , which are struggling to get through . This means we can ’ t test the lines and get them out to their final destination .”
TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS Union is always on the move , creating new products almost every day . Right now , the company is completing some lines for the production of foam items ( with a throughput capacity of more than 2,000 kg / hour ) destined for thermal insulation and the production of composite panels . The latter is a segment in which the Milanese company is working a lot , having installed several production systems for customers that , after testing the functionality and performance of the first one , have ordered 2 or 3 more within a short period of time . Also in the field of PET , three large lines are being built following a well-established trend that , in recent years , has seen a sizeable increase in the demand for machines with throughputs exceeding 2,000 kg / hour , against the 500 kg / hour that were normally required until some time ago .
RECYCLING AND FLEXIBLE FILM “ We are also very busy on the recycling front , and have been ever since 2015 , when we created the first machine for processing materials obtained not from post-industrial but from post-consumer waste . For example , we recently installed a production line that , starting from polystyrene soiled with earth or other contaminants , returns plates in thicknesses up to 120 microns - colour black , given the starting material - which can be used for the production of seed containers that are often attached together to form a single structure containing numerous growing seedlings , or panels for domestic underfloor heating systems ,” Passoni adds . “ Furthermore , today , more than two years since we acquired the majority stake in Costruzioni Meccaniche Tecom s . r . l . of Olgiate Olona ( Varese ), we can say that it really was the right move : the synergy between the two companies has led to stronger relations with numerous customers and also boosted orders . This is also partly down to some important figures we recently hired in Varese to supplement the company ’ s already highly qualified workforce .”
