THREE NEW PROJECTS In addition to this innovative PA 6.10 , Radici- Group ’ s research and development centre is considering three other polymers with different properties which could become part of the range with a lower environmental impact offered by the Bergamo-based company . The first is a special polymer on a PA 5.10 base with excellent fluidity properties , containing 100 per cent biobased raw materials , combined with outstanding mechanical strength . This polymer has been designed for metal replacement applications as it lends itself well to be filled with high amounts of fibres to reach very high levels of rigidity . “ We are also studying a PA 5.6 polymer with 41 % bio-based content , which could represent an almost direct alternative to PA 66 , being easy to mould and having a melting point of 254 ° C ” he added . “ In the field of long-chain polyamides , we are testing a PA 10.12 grade with 43 % bio-based content whose properties make it an interesting alternative in particular applications , being very flexible and suitable for the extrusion process , even without the addition of plasticizing agents .” The PA 10.12 polymer also boasts good transparency , fully meeting the requests from those industrial areas where this property is highly sought after . Other notable properties are excellent chemical resistance and very low moisture absorption . “ Today we have all the technology and knowhow necessary to produce materials from renewable sources , thus responding to the demand for products with a reduced impact on the ecosystem – loudly required by the industry – by offering a wide and articulated range of products .
