The favorite target became junior Colton Sikes .
Sikes hauled in a team-high 48 receptions and had 906 yards and a whopping 16 touchdowns . The other Lion to score more than him was Lukas Collier with 20 on the ground . Collier had over 1,000 all-purpose yards with 977 on the ground and 47 yards through the air .
As the offense fired on all cylinders , the defense did the same . Led by junior Tristin Webb on the defensive line , the Lions dropped quarterbacks 18 times . Webb had 12 sacks to lead the Lions and made another 64 tackles for the Lions this year .
Sophomore Hudson Ramey snagged a team-high nine interceptions and caused two fumbles over the season . The Lions had 41 turnovers on defense as they continued to swarm and get the offense the ball back .
“ I was impressed with how unselfish all of those seniors were this year . There was not a time where I thought somebody was trying to make it about themself ,” Norris said . “ We had guys giving up positions to help the team . Guys missed time with injuries but still showed up to everything . Everybody understood their roles this year .”
The other thing that Alpha Omega saw this year was an improved following from the Huntsville community and the school . The Lions saw its highest attendance at home games this season and had people reach out before the Lions ’ state game .
“ We ’ ve done this for a while and this year we had the most support . Not only from the school but the fans and parents ,” Norris said . “ It was a very positive experience for our team and school . I got messages from Huntsville kids and people that weren ’ t familiar with us . It felt like a community deal . I think we learned a lot this year and it gave us a new standard .”
Alpha Omega Academy ’ s season ended in the TAPPS State final against Covenant Classical , but with a bunch of members coming back , the Lions have a chance to reload and contend once again .
