son.“ I’ ve been impressed with the level Sam is playing as an inside backer,” Moebes said.“ I played in this defense and coached it. But where Sam is is impressive. He’ s a smart kid and has high expectations of himself. He’ s accepted the responsibility.”
This defense has a lot to offer with all of the coaches on that side of the ball as well. But with a strong defense, this team is going to need to put together a strong offensive push to get this team to the goal that they want, and that starts with the offensive line.
Huntsville will get back Eli Cruz, Caleb Cruz and recent Sam Houston commit Tr’ e Williams to be the core of the five-man front. While this group struggled a bit early, Todd has noted that this group has seen some of the most improvement since the spring.
And that growth is important as the Hornets will likely be a run-heavy offense with Trae’ Shawn Brown, Jakavien Birks and Zay Adolphe being strong runners.“ They have gelled together. I think their workload and toughness have increased. Offensive linemen have a lot on their plates and things happen quickly. They all got stronger this summer, and they are playing on another level right now. After spring, we knew we needed the growth and they answered the call this summer,” Todd said.
