That has been the challenge to the players ,” Keeler said . “ If we do the same things we did last year , we aren ’ t going to get there . We have to go a step further and I think we did this summer .”
With the different approach , Sam Houston will hopefully find those extra plays if they wanna flip the script this season .
In order to win some games , Sam Houston has some questions to figure out along the way . For starters , who will be under center for game one ? The Bearkats brought in two transfer quarterbacks Jase Bauer and
Hunter Watson and both have been staples for the job .
Watson comes to Sam Houston after winning the National Junior College national championships . At Iowa Western , he threw for 1,904 yards and 22 touchdowns . He threw four interceptions in 13 games .
Bauer , a guy with FBS experience , played at Central Michigan last season and saw some success . In 12 games , Bauer threw the ball for 1,881 yards and 12 touchdowns . For reference , Keegan Shoemaker threw for 2,507 yards last season and 15 touchdowns . But he had 11 interceptions .
For the Bearkats , it seems like the competition is going to come down to those two guys with the starter likely being named on game day .
“ It ’ s unique because I have two quarterbacks that are lifting where our strongest players are ,” Keeler said . “ We feel like we have three
