●Content filter
A “content filter” is a function that blocks inappropriate content to prevent leakage of information. For example, an educational institution may
place restrictions on accessing harmful Web pages to discourage viewing
of certain sites such as those containing adult or violent content. This can
be accomplished by preparing a list of URLs of harmful Web pages and
blocking access to them, or blocking access to Web pages that use specific
words or phrases. Corporations also use content filtering to ban the viewing of Web pages that are unrelated to work, or to prevent leakage of information through message boards or blogs.
(6)DMZ
A “DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone)” is an area of a network that is established between the company network and an external network suc h as the
Internet. Web servers, mail servers, and proxy servers that a corporation
publishes over the Internet are situated in the DMZ. A server that is published in the DMZ can be accessed from company networks, while also
permitting access from the Internet. It is also permitted to access the Internet through the DMZ, but company networks cannot be accessed through
the DMZ. Establishing a DMZ is useful for preventing the spread of damage to company networks, if a server published on the Internet is compromised through unauthorized access.
