We work with Avis in Italy as they offer an excellent range of cars : small , medium and large , manual and automatic , saloons and estates and all with air�conditioning . Avis has a very wide range of offices throughout the country , at the airports , at railway stations and in city centre locations , catering for the flexibility our clients demand .

The points made below are for cars hired in Italy only . These conditions are subject to change - countries do change their conditions throughout the year so this information is based on what is available at the time of going to press .

What ’ s included

Unlimited Mileage , Collision Damage Waiver , Theft Protection , Airport service charge at 17 % or Railway service charge at 12 % ( as appropriate ), Road tax , Tax at 22 %, payment of any applicable drop-off charges for all groups ( excluding to / from Sardinia ), rental for the number of days specified ( these are in blocks of 24 hours .

Hire�cars are included in units of 24 hours and co�incide with the number of nights included in your holiday . For example if you book a 7 night holiday we have included 7 units of 24 hours . The hours are calculated from the time you collect the car . However , if you choose an early morning flight out and an evening flight back you will have to pay us in advance for an additional day ’ s car hire at £ 32 per car ( Group A Avis ) plus the applicable supplement if you choose a larger car group .

If you return the car later than the time we have confirmed , Avis will bill you in full at the public rate plus VAT for an additional day ).

What ’ s not included

Personal accident insurance ( PAI ) This is optional . We recommend that you are properly covered for personal accident whilst driving the car . Holiday personal insurance policies usually cover this – please check before you leave home . If in doubt , you may purchase personal accident insurance from Avis on arrival .

Additional Driver The cost of adding an additional driver is Euros 7 per day plus tax , Euros 49 per week plus tax . Maximum charge 15 days rental at Euros 150 ,

Petrol We strongly recommend that you return the car with a full tank of petrol . The car should have a full tank when you collect it . If this is not the case , please raise it with Avis at the point of collection . If Avis need to refuel the car they will bill you a service charge of Euros 15 in addition to the cost of the petrol plus Italian VAT ( IVA ). It is well worth keeping your final petrol station receipt so as to have proof that the car was returned with a full tank .

Administration fee An administration fee of Euros 42 plus tax will be applied in case of nonpayment of the highway toll , Highway Code transgressions , fines and faulty accidents without third party .

GPS The cost of renting a GPS unit is Euros 12 per day plus tax . Maximum charge 10 days at Euros 120 . Please request at the time of making the reservation .

Child seat and child booster seat The cost of renting a child safety seat is Euros 20.50 per day plus tax . Maximum charge 3 days at Euros 61.50 ( car seats are compulsory up to 4 years of age ). There is a Euro 103 fee if damaged or lost . The cost of a child booster seat is Euros 6 per day plus tax . Maximum charge 3 days at Euros 18.00 . There is a Euros 25 fee if damaged or lost .

Collision Damage Waiver excess GROUPS A-B-C € 850 + TAX , GROUPS D-E-J-N € 900 + TAX , GROUPS F-G-I € 1400 + TAX , GROUPS H-L-K-M € 1600 + TAX .

Theft protection excess GROUPS A-B-C € 1700 + TAX , GROUPS D-E-J-N € 1800 + TAX , GROUPS F-G-I € 2200 + TAX , GROUPS H-L-K-M € 2800 + TAX .

In Puglia , Campania and Sicily it is not possible to reduce to zero the excess in case of theft even if you buy the full insurance cover which is optional . The excess is Euros 500 plus tax for A , B and C groups and Euros 750 plus tax for other groups .

Avis will offer you such things as Super Theft Protection and Super Collision Damage Waiver . WDW ( Windscreen Damage Waiver ) is not included in Super Cover but can be bought extra to cover rear view mirrors , wing mirrors , sun roofs or Panasonic mirrors on the roof of vehicle . Fee € 1.50 per day plus tax . Max charge 15 days . Road side Safety Net can also be bought for an additional local charge to cover tyres assistance , flat battery , lock out service and on the road fuel delivery . Once signed for these charges are nonrefundable . Please ensure you require these extras before signing for them .

Additional information

International One Way Rental The additional charge for one-way international rental is available on request and is only for certain vehicle groups . Minimum Renting Age The minimum age for renting most car groups in Italy is 23 . You must have held your licence for a minimum of 1 year . The minimum age for renting groups H , L and O is 25 years and you must have held your licence for a minimum of 2 years . Young Driver There is an additional charge of Euros 16.53 per day plus tax . Maximum charge of 15 days for renters aged between 23 – 25 years . Maximum age The maximum age for renting any vehicle is 85 .

AVIS TABLE OF CARS The supplement is per day per car ( not per person ).
