The 3 star Hotel Flora is an oasis of Venetian charm and character , situated along a short narrow alleyway just off a stylish street in a less bustling part of the city between St Mark ’ s and the Accademia , yet only a short distance from the Grand Canal . The Flora , with only 41 rooms , has the feel of a family home full of charming ornaments and decorated in a cosy style , a feeling enhanced by the fact that the owner , Signor Romanelli has owned the hotel for the last forty years . In the 20 years or so that we have worked with the Flora , the hotel continues to impress and charm and actually even improves with age ! The pretty reception area opens onto a shady courtyard , bordered by the creeper�clad , shuttered hotel building . Here you can enjoy a refreshing drink after a day ’ s sightseeing and in the morning breakfast is served from 7 am . The courtyard , dotted with potted shrubs and flowers is a real bonus and is the perfect accompaniment to the rest of the hotel . The bedrooms are located on 3 floors , with a couple on the ground floor at the rear of the shady courtyard . The rooms vary in size and style , some of the larger ones being ornately furnished in a Venetian style and others being smaller and more typical of a traditional cosy hotel . Rooms are allocated strictly in accordance with availability at the time of booking . The ambience is friendly and quaint yet everything is of a good standard , with many of the bathrooms having been refurbished to a very high standard . Some rooms overlook the courtyard and some overlook a side street . As the Flora is very special , very popular and has limited capacity , booking as early as possible in the year is strongly advised .
