In these types of sentences, you’ll often also find expressions of frequency: Leggo ogni giorno. I read every day. st “leggere” is conjugated in the 1 person singular simple present tense and means “I read” Here, it is describing a habitual action, and “ogni giorno” (everyday) is the expression of frequency that specifies how often. COMMON EXPRESSIONS OF FREQUENCY: ogni (giorno, settimana, mese, anno) every (day, week, month, year) ogni (lunedì, martedì, luglio, agosto) every (Monday, Tuesday, July, August) ADVERB POSITION: The “standard” position of adverbs is right after the verb: Leggo spesso. I read often. but some adverbs are commonly found at the beginning of the sentence: A volte, leggo. Sometimes, I read. NEGATIONS WITH ADVERBS: Italian, unlike English, requires double negatives. So when using “negative” adverbs like “mai” (never) or “quasi mai” (almost never) you still need to use the negation word “non” before the verb: Non leggo mai. Non leggo quasi mai. I never read.
