To trace the origins of Gerbaldo Polimeri , we have to go back as far as 1985 , when in Caramagna Piemonte , near Cuneo , the Gerbaldo family established Rigerplast , a small company specialising exclusively in plastics recycling for the production of high- and low-density polyethylene and polypropylene pellets destined for a number of sectors such as film , packaging , extrusion , blow moulding and injection moulding . Over the years , the business kept on expanding , thanks to growing sales that fuelled investments in other market segments . The company then started the production of compound pellets obtained from materials derived from select industrial scrap and virgin polymers . In 1999 , the company also took on the production of natural and coloured micronised polymers destined for the rotational moulding sector , under the brand names Microlex and Hex-
