lecting the material to be regenerated . The scrap stored and processed are mainly ABS , SAN , PS , PC / ABS , PMMA , PC , PP , PE , PA items and many other . The Compound business unit , in Alzate Brianza , near Como , operates on a total surface area of 40,000 sqm , 13,000 sqm of which are specially equipped for the manufacturing and marketing of compounds , focusing in particular on engineering polymers . The regrind is processed , mixed with additives and / or pigments and subsequently extruded on 13 single-screw and twin-screw extrusion lines with a throughput of 18,000 tons / year , corresponding to approximately 70 tons of engineering
polymers extruded every day at full capacity . Here , the customers ’ needs and demands are analysed case by case in order to create a tailormade product , starting from either secondary raw materials from the Recovery business unit or first-choice materials , and obtaining engineering polymers such as sinLAC ABS , sinBLEND PC / ABS , sinCARB PC , sinSTYR PS , sinMID PA6 and PA66 , sinTRON PPS , sinPOM POM , sinGLASS PMMA , sinKRYL SAN , sinTER PBT and sinPET PET . The finished regrind and pellets ready for delivery are stored in a 3,600 sqm warehouse located in Erba . 70 % of the pellets are destined for the Italian market , while the other 30 % is distributed
INNOVATION FOR THE FUTURE The Como-based company has an in-house lab equipped with special instruments , where specialists control directly on site both the incoming and the outgoing goods , thus ensuring high and constant quality standards in order to meet the customers ’ requirements while guaranteeing customisation , reliability and maximum compliance with the current laws . Considering innovation as a renewal process , Caldara Plast has started a collaboration with some Pisa University researchers and professors by participating in the Planet Bioplastics start-up , an organisation where theoretical and real technical expertise meet to generate a constructive dialogue capable of creating innovation . The goal is to start , in the future , the industrial production of biopolymer compounds suitable for commercial applications . For an ever greener future .
