The regeneration of plastic materials creates significant added value , provided that it is carried out with state-of-theart equipment . This is the case of the Tandem technology developed by Gamma Meccanica , which makes it possible to recycle heavily printed , highly contaminated thermoplastic waste with a high residual moisture content .

Can a recycled chips or snacks pack become a high-performance technical part ? The answer is yes , thanks to the latest plastics regeneration technology designed and manufactured by Gamma Meccanica . A specialist in the design and manufacturing of regeneration lines for plastics , the company from Reggio Emilia offers the new Tandem Plus line to all those who aim at increasing the added value of recycled materials . Thanks to the Tandem technology it is already possible to recycle challenging materials , such as PE and PP with printed surface in excess of 100 %, highly contaminated and with a high residual moisture content . With the new Tandem Plus line , recyclers not only get high quality pellets , but they can also modify the pellets in order to obtain the technical features desired by their customers . Therefore , we are not talking about recycling , but rather about upcycling . In addition , energy consumption is reduced and application flexibility is high , like in all lines developed by Gamma Meccanica .
THE TANDEM LINE A good example of a Tandem Plus line is the GM180 model delivered to a foreign customer . The customer recycles heavily printed or contaminated post-consumer waste into pellets with specific technical features to be used in the production of pipes . The GM180 Tandem Plus is the result of an advanced research programme carried on by Gamma Meccanica engineers with the collaboration of selected partners in the recycling sector . The first section of the line consists of a Compac feeder and an extruder with a single screw with a diameter of 180 mm . This extruder is equipped with a self-cleaning screen changer that removes the contaminants from the melt . On the delivery side of the screen changer an “ exclusive ” degassing system by Gamma Meccanica allows the removal of up to 10 times more gases and moisture from the melt compared to other systems .
