Drawing inspiration from a close mentor of artistry from his past, the artist has
recreated a work with simpler materials, likely to echo his time as a child spent learning
art with the aforementioned mentor. The bright colors and bold lines likewise reflect a
childlike naivete in the artists’ technique. The choice of seashells reflects the scene that
the artist would have also spent time with his mentor, by the ocean-- learning about
and studying in nature.
