LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Welcome ,
As an IT entrepreneur of 44 years , it only made sense to start Quick Compute , an IT Services Company , in my home region of the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas . Having a deep understanding of the people and culture of this area since childhood , and Texas in general , provides an insight into the unique challenges we face as business owners . For 25 years , we have tackled complex business environments such as multiple locations , remote workers , and unique environments for our clients before we even knew they were unique . Our goal has always been to provide the IT services that make our clients more productive and create an environment where their business can thrive .
June 1st marked the start of “ Hurricane Season ” along the Gulf Coast . It is a season when businesses can ’ t wait for an imminent strike to take action safeguarding their business assets , computer equipment , and valuable business data . Many of us have weathered several hurricanes and know the devastation and loss of services , such as electricity and water . Today it would be very difficult to operate your business without the internet or access to critical business data . It is for this reason that Quick Compute focuses on helping businesses be prepared in advance with many free services such as preparing a detailed IT equipment asset list including serial numbers and consultations on how to protect or move critical data to the cloud .
So why create a magazine ?
The news and social media platforms are filled with threats none of us can control : inflation , mass immigration , rising crime , internet scams , identity theft , phishing emails , and ransomware hacking threats . As business owners , we can throw money at all types of products and programs to mitigate cyber threats with no guarantees it will or has made a difference .
I ’ m not saying security isn ’ t important . It is . What I am saying is there is so much more to building a successful and fulfilling business than just focusing on threats and security . This is why I created this magazine .
Over the past decade , I have been inspired by many thought leaders and entrepreneurs . Some have opinions I agree with and some I don ’ t . But one thing they have all taught me is that we must continue to explore new options for ourselves and our businesses and be bold in taking new steps . Also , it isn ’ t bad to lean on others ’ successes to guide us forward . We all need a little courage from time to time to tackle this new era where we find ourselves .
One such person is Ricardo Navarro , an attorney who has worked in the Valley for the past 23 years as part of a much larger firm with offices around the state . His journey over the past two years to transform his law practice into a modern , fluid , highly collaborative environment by embracing the changes which were accentuated and driven by the pandemic has been a truly exciting transformation to see and a privilege to be a part of . You will find his vision and story in this quarter ’ s edition .
It is my sincerest hope that you will find inspiration , as I have , from the individuals who have graciously contributed to this first edition of the IT For The Future Of Texas Business .
Holly Fullingim , CEO Quick Compute , Inc .
